Today is a great day as the machinery that prints our satin black plastic cards is now fixed – woo hoo

Luckily the spare parts were not delayed at customs and were fitted early this morning so we are up and running again.

Today has been “one of those days” …

We are having problems with the machinery that prints our satin black plastic cards and currently have engineers trying to fix the problem and various parts have been ordered.

We have turned so much work away today due to this problem and not to mention having to refund orders that we already had taken – there is no point lying to people by taking orders you can’t fulfil and it’s only right to refund money for orders already placed that you can’t fulfil – although I doubt bank managers would agree!

Luckily, our full colour plastic cards are unaffected so we’re still in business !

Hopefully the machinery will be fixed soon, lets hope the spare parts (coming from Austria) won’t get held up at UK Customs!

The design below printed on a satin black plastic card is very unique.

It is printed with 2 colours, metallic gold and metallic silver onto a solid plastic card.

The way the gold is printed onto the silver is very effective and adds an expensive look to the plastic card.

The free design service for our clear plastic cards, satin black and metallic plastic cards is going very well, we have varying numbers of requests a day but the quantity generally ranges from 20 to 50 a day.

Unfortunately, although we are designing the cards purely from the customers own input we find that after the initial communication we hear nothing back from them. Possibly an idea which disappeard as quickly as it appeared.

We have decided to now ask for a small deposit to start the design process, this is so that we can concentrate on genuine customers. You would be surprised how many people come on to us for plastic cards and after weeks of communication vanish off the planet!

It only a nominal amount and doesn’t cover the full cost of labour, software and admin time however we just feel a little commitment from the customer is required.

Hope you understand and don’t get upset by this, we are just trying to ensure genuine customers are getting our full attention.

A clear plastic card

We have updated the website to promote our free design service for frosted, satin black and metallic plastic cards.

The design service can be requested via a form which asks various questions.

We ask the customer to provide as much information as possible to help with the design process, this way we can ensure that the design is customised as much as possible to the customers own vision. We provide examples of past work which can help provide ideas to the customer and we can base there design around on of these if required. The more information we had to go off the easier it is to create a stunning design based on the customers own needs and requirements.

Logos etc can be uploaded to the design request form, ideally these are provided as line artwork and in a high enough resolution so that the quality will not suffer when the cards are printed.

Over the last few days we have been working hard to implement a new frosted clear business card example page found here.

We hope that our customers will like the new way the cards are displayed in a fun fashion.

We recently printed a black plastic card with a large gloss black pattern in the background.

When we received the artwork from the customer, we thought it would look good when printed but not this good!

The gloss black ink when printed on a satin black plastic card gives a very subtle watermark type effect. It can be seen more clearly as the card is angled in the light.

We often have customers asking for frosted clear plastic cards and satin black cards with a very short time period.

The standard turnaround time for this product is 7 to 10 working days.

This time frame builds in time for the printing plates to be ordered, produced and received. This can at worse case scenario take 3 working days.

The timeframe also includes time to actually print the cards and some room for any problems occurring. For example occasionally the printing plates may be damaged in the post / during transit.

We can offer rush order, which may sometime but subject to an additional charge to cover ordering express printing plates and paying staff to work overtime.

I just wanted to very briefly explain why this product does take a little time to produce.

I hope you have all had time to recuperate over the Easter weekend and are ready to order your plastic cards.

A lot of customers have realized that there membership / loyalty schemes are really taking off and more cards are required urgently.

If you have ordered membership or loyalty cards with us earlier this year it may be time to double check your stock and re-order more plastic cards if required. Why leave it to the last minute and potential upset new members or customer as you do not have cards available for them.

On a final point, we all have the May bank holidays to look forward to  :-)
