The economy

Friday, January 28th, 2011

HI All,

Its been greatly reported in the news that the UK economy has decreased by .5% when a growth percentage was expected.

Well I’m no economist but the VAT rise is / has affected people views on spending, if the government want people to spent why increase the VAT rate!

We have encountered a small growth in the number of enquiries for plastic membership cards, I’ve probably said this on a few occasions before and will most probably say again – membership cards are a positive way to ensure a member feels valued or even better a discount card offer 5% or more off products/services valid until xxx to try and encourage cash flow.

I wish you all the very best of success in these uncertain times, if you feel any of our products will help your business please get in touch.

Sample packs we send

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Hi All,

As you are probably aware we stood a stance a year ago, probably longer, that if anyone wanted a sample pack of our plastic cards we would ask for a SAE, some people have got very upset about this and repeatedly phoned up to try and just get us to post one. Thing is when we did post them with no questions asked very very few people who requested them actually placed an order, we are guessing its because they have gone off the idea of ordering or found a cheap company who outsource to China.

A recent example of this is someone who phoned us for a quote, I quote accordingly for 1000 x 760 micron plastic cards with no optional extras. They asked for samples and I asked him to follow the instructions on our website regarding the SAE.

This person phoned up today to say he had received the samples and has a few questions, great fire away I say, first question: do you do cards with security chips in them Answer: no. Oh that answers all my questions then.

So to summarise this person needs plastic cards with security chips which we do not offer and never have offered, which means had we spent money on postage for the samples this maybe be wasted. Not to say he wont come back in the future for plastic business cards but obviously at present he needs chips!

Durable plastic cards

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Hi All,

You have probably seen the clip on either you tube or BBC news now about the lady who was sooooo busy sending a text message from her mobile in a shopping centre that she did not realise an indoor pool / fountain display was in front of her….in case you have not seen this….you guessed it…she tripped over the small wall surrounding this and went head first in to the water!

Bet she is glad all her credit cards are plastic cards as other wise she would not have been able to purchase new DRY clothes from the surrounding shops!

If you haven’t see the clip have a look at BBC news, apparently over one million people have viewed it according to the BBC article however now looks nearer to 2 million!

Next time you are lookign to purchase business / membership cards just remember plastic ones are more durable, you never know what is round the corner!

Funny old weather

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

Hi All,

What is going on with the weather at the moment, one minute it feels like a summers day at 12 degrees (well feels like summer in comparison to the minus 14 we have had anyway!) next thing I’m waking up to a icy car windscreen and frosty grass. The poor plants in the garden will be getting confused.

At least you can use your plastic business cards for scraping ice off your windscreen for a little longer, we believe in added value you know!

I’ve heard rummors that some areas will have snow this week. If you get any snow pop us a post back to let us know where you are or better still send a photo of a snowman you have built!

Can’t want for the spring :-)

Plastic cards – check the artwork

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Hi All,

We have a customer at the moment who submitted terrible artwork for the full colour cards, he received his postal proof and was not happy with a number of things. My colleague very kindly agreed to wrestle with this artwork, free of charge and sent a photo-realistic proof over by email for him to approve prior to production of his 2nd postal proof.

He approved this email proof so we started production on the 2nd postal proof however the very next day the customer contacts us saying there is a typing mistake which our spell check department had not picked it up. My colleague was a little upset by this as it had taken him a long time to sort this customers artwork out and obviously he did not even bother to check the email proof properly. We do not have a spell check department, as a lot of our customers provide there own artwork (as this customer did!).

We are currently in the process of stopping production of the 2nd postal proof and yet again for no cost changing the customers own artwork.

I am not sure what the moral of this story should be, it could be for us not to fix customers artwork, make customers wait for 24 hours to approve an email proof, don’t bother at all the email proofs as they are not checked properly! Or should we just put this down as experience and try to to taint every customer with the same brush. Personally I think the latter is the best option however it is difficult!

Please please please, if you are placing an order with us, could you double and triple check all email proofs before approving them. Thank you!

Plastic cards – special offer price

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

We have a special offer on which is 100 x 760 micron full colour solid plastic cards for £85 + VAT or the quantity of 200 for £105 + VAT – the prices include delivery to one UK mainland address. This offer is not available with a postal proof or optional extras and is based on print ready artwork being supplied.

The idea is that this is a way to provide small runs of cards for a great price to customers but with minimal production time spent on the order hence how we can offer such good prices.

Unfortunately some customer’s do not appreciate that we want finished print ready and final artwork to quality for this offer and submit copious amounts of artwork to the wrong specification after we have spent time reviewing it and sending an email proof back. This really is not the way the special offer is meant to work!

If you want to take advantage of this truly wonderful offer please send your artwork over to the correct specification and we will be pleased to process it your order for you.

Bye for now.

Plastic cards, lots of repeat card orders today

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Today we have received more repeat orders than normal, one which was from 6 years ago.

Repeat orders are great and as time goes on we do receive more and more of them.

If it is an exact repeat plastic card order then we can usually turn it around a little bit quicker than if it was a brand new order.

We also often find that we are able to charge repeat customers the same amount for their re-order as we did many years ago, good to see that unlike a lot of things in life, plastic cards don’t have to cost more money!

Club penguin cards are not printed by us

Friday, January 29th, 2010

We are amazed at how many people per day come to our website looking for club penguin cards.

Is it because club penguin cards when shortened becomes cpcards?

Who knows!

What is club penguin – is it a kids thing, is it kids that are coming to our website looking for a penguin?

All we know is we have nothing to do with it – we just print plastic cards and business cards.

good business cards – watch out for low quality ones

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Hi All,

It’s one thing for us to produce good business cards and plastic cards but if the artwork supplied by the customer isn’t to the correct specification, then problems will arise.

We have in the last couple of months adopted a new approach to customer supplied artwork (predominantly for the full colour solid plastic cards).

On receipt all artwork is received to ensure it is technically ok to print.

If a customer supplies artwork which is nearly to the correct specification but needs small alterations we will make the alterations for the customer free of charge.

We will of course inform the customer that the artwork is not to the correct specification and ask that if any future artwork is submitted it is sent to us in the correct format.

We may occasionally ask for a deposit if extensive work is involved.

A lot of companies will accept any artwork files, even if they are technically not set up correctly and just print straight from them them resulting in the end result being less than desirable. We like to ensure that our customers are hippy with there cards and hence why we provide detailed artwork specifications and when necessary will reject artwork if the design team feels the quality of the end product will suffer. We do not reject artwork for the fun of it, we do it for the customers own benefit (some customer do not seem to realise this!).

We hope that our customer appreciate the help we provide.
