Sample packs we send

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Hi All,

As you are probably aware we stood a stance a year ago, probably longer, that if anyone wanted a sample pack of our plastic cards we would ask for a SAE, some people have got very upset about this and repeatedly phoned up to try and just get us to post one. Thing is when we did post them with no questions asked very very few people who requested them actually placed an order, we are guessing its because they have gone off the idea of ordering or found a cheap company who outsource to China.

A recent example of this is someone who phoned us for a quote, I quote accordingly for 1000 x 760 micron plastic cards with no optional extras. They asked for samples and I asked him to follow the instructions on our website regarding the SAE.

This person phoned up today to say he had received the samples and has a few questions, great fire away I say, first question: do you do cards with security chips in them Answer: no. Oh that answers all my questions then.

So to summarise this person needs plastic cards with security chips which we do not offer and never have offered, which means had we spent money on postage for the samples this maybe be wasted. Not to say he wont come back in the future for plastic business cards but obviously at present he needs chips!

Durable plastic cards

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Hi All,

You have probably seen the clip on either you tube or BBC news now about the lady who was sooooo busy sending a text message from her mobile in a shopping centre that she did not realise an indoor pool / fountain display was in front of her….in case you have not seen this….you guessed it…she tripped over the small wall surrounding this and went head first in to the water!

Bet she is glad all her credit cards are plastic cards as other wise she would not have been able to purchase new DRY clothes from the surrounding shops!

If you haven’t see the clip have a look at BBC news, apparently over one million people have viewed it according to the BBC article however now looks nearer to 2 million!

Next time you are lookign to purchase business / membership cards just remember plastic ones are more durable, you never know what is round the corner!

Bye for now!

Royal mail, plastic cards and postal proofs

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Hi All,

I read today that royal mail are taking extra steps to deal with the postage backlog from December/Christmas in the Cheshire area.

One of our postal proofs for the full colour solid plastic cards, which we posted before Christmas has only just arrived! Which does to highlight just how bad things are.

Obviously we did not let this hold the customers order up and actually posted the proof via courier to ensure the order was not delayed.

Hopefully with Royal Mail taking this step to make extra deliveries will help however I wonder what will happy this Christmas! hhuurrrmmm lets guess, more failed deliveries!

Bye for now.

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

We have recently updated our blog so any comments with links will have the dofollow attribute rather then the nofollow.

This will hopefully encourage more people to make the effort to post comments etc.

We look forward to hearing what you all have to say about plastic cards, our service etc or any ideas.

VAT confusion

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Hi All,

I think the increase in VAT has confused a few people. Some customer are expecting their plastic card prices to be 20% higher this year. I just wanted to let you all know that this is not the case.

Unfortunately we do have to pass on the VAT increase but its an extra 2.5% on the total price NOT an extra 20%!

For example 250 x 760 micron plastic cards is £166 + VAT at 17.5% vat this would have been £195.05 with 20% VAT this is £199.20

As you can see this is only a few pounds extra.

I know the VAT increase can make you feel like not spending as you feel even more cheated by the Government but personally I don’t think this approach will help the country. I am not economist however I think we need a balance with personal spending / saving.

Let me know your comments please.

Quiet month so far for plastic card orders

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Hi all,

Its been a particularly quiet month so far but this was expected. For many reasons January is usually quiet, we tend to think its because:

Everyone is recovering for the Christmas break and catching up with work on there return
a lot of people this year are ill with Flu etc – if you haven’t had it yet get yourself vaccinated!
unfortunately this year I think the VAT increase seems to have lowered people moral a lot and curbed spending

As we are quiet we do have more capacity that usual for express / rush orders especially for the satin black and frosted plastic cards. If you need any cards quickly please let us know and we would be happy to advise.

It’s the shortest day

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Hi All,

Wanted to try and cheer you all up by letting you know that today is the shortest day of the year which means the days will start getting longer from tomorrow.

Despite all the snow, ice and cold cole weather we are having at the moment just remember that spring isn’t far away.

Wishing you all the very best and keep warm!

Bureau service on plastic cards before Christmas

Thursday, December 23rd, 2010

Hi All,

As many of our bureau customers know the last date for submitting your excel file has well and truly gone.

We had approx. 13 customers this year trying to submit excel files after the cut off date. We had to reject the files much to the disappointment of the customers however there is nothing we could do. We did advertise for approx. 2 months the cut off date and time.

Its quite frustrating for us, as we are working so hard to ensure as many customers as possible receive there orders before Christmas but unfortunately the customers who we could not satisfy e.g. the 13 mentioned above really have not helped this year, each and everyone send is 3 to 5 emails asking why and could we not do it just for them, eleven of these people also phoned to talk it through – not really what we need at this time of year! Imagine 15 mins per each of these customers for emails and phone calls – over 3 hours of time we could have been using to dispatch orders.

Hopefully next year these customers will remember the cut off date/time.

Bye for now
