Signature strips
Use: For use with a normal pen when a signature or other information is required to be written.
Positioning: Anywhere, however they must stop at least 4mm from the edge.
Size: Most sizes available. For reference the typical size for a signature strip is 8mm by 75mm
Wording: For example the word signature, can be printed above, below or at the side. We can not print on the strip.
Number of strips: One or multiple strips are available.
Top tip: Place the strip on a white background to ensure it stays a crisp white and is not tinted by a colour behind it.

Use: For use when the card needs to be tracked, a number is required or just to give a more professional image
to a membership club.
Positioning: The sequential numbering can be located anywhere.
Size: We can print any size you require.
Font: We normally use either Times new roman or Arial.

Colour: Any CMYK colour can be used. We can even match the colour of the sequential numbering to a colour in your logo for consistency.
Top Tip: For a small organisation wanting to appear larger, start the numbering from 10001 or alternatively hold on to card number 0001 for an important member.
Embossing
Use: We can emboss words and / or numbers (just like a credit card) for a professional image.
Positioning: Embossing is positioned on one side, in the bottom half.
Size: Two sizes are available, 5mm and 3mm, this is the height of the characters
Maximum number of characters: For the 5mm this is 22 characters on one line & for the 3mm this is 27 characters on one line (including spaces)

Encoding: We can either encode (put data on the strips) or leave them blank so you can encode the data yourself using suitable equipment.
The magnetic strip has three sections within it, known as tracks. We can encode on to one track or multiple tracks. The different tracks can hold different information, this depends on your requirements but as a general rule:
Track 1 can include letters & numbers up to a maximum of 78 characters
Track 2 can include numbers up to a maximum of 37 characters
Track 3 can include numbers up to a maximum of 103 characters
Positioning: Magnetic strips are positioned on the reverse, 3mm down from the top edge.
Size: The magnetic strips measure 13mm x 86 mm long
HICO or LOCO: There are two different types of magnetic strips, they are called High Coercivity (HICO) or Low Coercivity (LOCO). The Coercivity defines how strong the magnetic field is and how immune the data on the magnetic strip is to damage.
We would recommend HICO as this is far more durable, however please check that HICO is compatible with your system.
Providing the encoding details: You can either specify a start number, for example: sequential numbering from 0001 onwards or you can supply an excel document containing the encoding details.
Colour: As a general rule HICO magnetic strips are black and LOCO are brown
Top Tip: Note sure if you need magnetic strips? To future proof your membership system why not consider them. Also a magnetic strip (even if it isn't used) looks more professional.
Gloss or matt finish
Two wonderful finishes are available: Super shiny gloss or luxury sophisticated matt.
Top tip: A matt finish is always recommended if the background is black or very dark, as this helps to disguise surface scratches.
Barcodes
Use: Barcodes are often used for membership and loyalty systems to help record important data. The barcode number can be linked to a customer which allows important information to be viewed by the operator or points added to the customers account.
Positioning: The barcode can be located anywhere.
Size: We can print any size you require.
Font: There are a number of different barcodes in use, examples include code39, code128A and EAN5. We find that code39 is the most popular.
Barcode number: You can either specify a start number, for example: sequential numbering from 0001 onwards or you can supply an excel document. The barcode can contain letters as well as numbers.
Colour: Barcodes are made up of black parallel lines.
Top Tip: Place your barcode within a white box to ensure the scanner can read it.

Use: When a luxury finish to the cards is required or to differentiate between different membership levels.
Colour: We offer a luxury metallic gold or classic metallic silver base card.
Positioning: The metallic base covers the whole surface, this can be applied to just one side or to both sides.
Printing: We can print any CMYK colour onto a metallic base card however no white text or images are possible.
Top Tip: The metallic silver base can be used as a platinum membership card.
Metallic gold or silver foiling
Use: When an element of the design needs to stand out, for example a logo.
Colour: We can offer a luxury metallic gold or classic metallic silver foil.
Positioning: The foiling can be located anywhere, to one or both sides.
Size: We can offer the foil with simple line-art type artwork as in the pictures above.
Top Tip: The foiling could be used to give the impression of a security mark help deter cards being replicated.
Hole or slot punching
Use: Hole or slots can be used for a variety of purposes, for example with a lanyard or to attach to a product / sales item.
Positioning: Holes are 4mm in from the edge. Slots are usually positioned in the centre of one of the edges.
Size: Holes are 5mm in diameter. Slots are 15mm x 3mm.
Top Tip: Try incorporating the hole as part of the design to disguise it.
Personalisation / variable data
Use: When a members name, expiry date or other important information is required.
Positioning: The personalisation can be located anywhere.
Size: We can print any size you require.

Size: The QR code has to be Square. We recommend a minimum size of 15mm.
Content: You can have number and / or letters.
We can print a different QR code on each card.
For example you may require a different number within each QR code (sequential or otherwise).
Or you may require a different website URL address within each QR code.
Just supply the relevant information within an excel document.
Top Tip: If you want the same QR code on each card, if you include this as part of your artwork there is no additional cost.
Note:
Some customers experience difficulty in scanning QR codes with their smart phones, possibly due to some smart phones having low quality cameras which may also have a fixed focus lens (this means the phones camera is unable to focus on images very close to the lens).
Unfortunately, due to the different capabilities of mobile phones we are unable to check that the QR code scans and suggest that email proofs are printed actual size for checking and in addition the postal proof is fully tested.
RFID/Mifare
Use: For use with RFID Proximity readers.
Positioning: The RFID IC is integrated within the plastic card core.
Capacity: The Mifare RFID tags can have two sizes of memory, 1K or 4K.
Data: We can supply Mifare RFID plastic cards either encoded or unencoded depending on your requirements.
Top tip: To save cost, most of our customers encode the Mifare RFID cards themselves with their own hardware.
Photoseals
Use: To attach a passport sized photo.
Size: Covers one side of the card.
Attachment: They are easy to attach, this video shows you how. However, we can attach them for you if required.
Top tip: Why not partially attach the photoseal prior to a new member joining to ensure the joining process is as efficient as possible.

Use: Used to conceal a number or code which is revealed when the scratch off panel is scratched off.
Positioning: Can be anywhere, however they must stop at least 4mm from the edge.

Size: Most sizes available. They cannot be too large as the keycards are quite small but a typical size is around 6mm high and 48mm wide
Wording: For example the word signature, can be printed above, below or at the side. We can not print on the strip.
Number of strips: One or multiple strips are available.
Top tip: Place the strip on a white background to ensure it stays a crisp white and is not tinted by a colour behind it.
Gloss or matt finish
Two wonderful finishes are available: Super shiny gloss or luxury sophisticated matt.
Top tip: A matt finish is always recommended if the background is black or very dark, as this helps to disguise surface scratches.
Barcodes
Use: Barcodes are often used for membership and loyalty systems to help record important data. The barcode number can be linked to a customer which allows important information to be viewed by the operator or points added to the customers account.
Positioning: The barcode can be located anywhere.
Size: We can print any size you require.
Font: There are a number of different barcodes in use, examples include code39, code128A and EAN5. We find that code39 is the most popular.
Barcode number: You can either specify a start number, for example: sequential numbering from 0001 onwards or you can supply an excel document. The barcode can contain letters as well as numbers.
Colour: Barcodes are made up of black parallel lines.
Top Tip: Place your barcode within a white box to ensure the scanner can read it.
Metallic gold or silver base
Use: When a luxury finish to the cards is required or to differentiate between different membership levels.
Colour: We offer a luxury metallic gold or classic metallic silver base card.
Positioning: The metallic base covers the whole surface, this can be applied to just one side or to both sides.
Printing: We can print any CMYK colour onto a metallic base card however no white text or images are possible.
Top Tip: The metallic silver base can be used as a platinum membership card.
Personalisation / variable data
Use: When a members name, expiry date or other important information is required.
Positioning: The personalisation can be located anywhere.
Size: We can print any size you require.
Font: We normally use either Times new roman or Arial.
Providing the personalisation: Please provide the personalisation details for all the cards in an excel document. An example excel document can be found here.
Ensure that the details to be personalised are supplied exactly as you would like them printed. For example, if you supply a name as "fred smith" it will be printed as "fred smith" i.e. without capital letters for the start of the names. You must supply the details correctly, i.e. "Fred Smith" for it to be printed as "Fred Smith".
Colour: Any CMYK colour can be used. We can even match the colour of the sequential numbering to a colour in your logo for consistency.

Split rings
Use: Makes it easy to attach the key card to a key ring.
Positioning: The metal split ring is inserted through the hole in the key card.
Size: The split rings are 24 mm in diameter.

We can supply the split rings either pre-attached to the keycards or loose so you or your customer can attach them as and when required.
