Hockey Club Membership Card Printing

CP Cards have been supplying Hockey Club membership cards to UK clubs and organisations for over 30 years.

Every card is printed here in England, no overseas production and delays.

Orders start from just 25 cards, free delivery is included as standard, and we'll email you a photorealistic proof before anything goes to print.

Hockey clubs commonly use membership cards to confirm current governing-body registration and playing eligibility, which many leagues require before a player can be selected for a match. Cards are often issued by squad — junior sections, ladies', men's, or mixed teams — and clubs with a clubhouse bar frequently use the card for matchday and social access. Some clubs print pitch-booking privileges on the card for members who train outside of normal club sessions.

Hockey Club Membership Cards printed

Hockey clubs are almost always multi-squad, so a card order covers men’s, ladies’, mixed, masters and several junior groups at once — usually placed in August against a September start.

One design, a colour per squad, no extra printing cost. Solid PVC, full colour on both sides, free delivery within Great Britain, from 25 cards.

There are hockey club membership card examples below, and the full specification is on our membership card printing page.

What Hockey Clubs Print on a Membership Card

Hockey clubs are almost always multi-squad, so the squad is the field that does the heavy lifting: men’s, ladies’, mixed, masters, junior, and often which XI within that. Alongside it go the club name and colours, the member’s name, a membership number, governing-body registration and the season — which in hockey runs September to April, so a card marked with a single calendar year invites confusion.

Pitch booking is worth a mention on the card for any club paying for astro slots. Where members can book outside club sessions, printing the entitlement saves both the member and whoever holds the booking diary a conversation.

The reverse usually carries training nights and which pitch they are on, clubhouse arrangements, and — a hockey-specific one — umpiring or coaching accreditation. Many clubs issue qualified umpires a distinguishable card, since a club that can field its own umpires depends on knowing who they are without asking around on a Saturday morning.

Winter Hockey Asks a Lot of a Membership Card

Hockey is a winter sport played on watered astro, which means a kit bag that goes in wet on Saturday and is still damp when it comes out on Tuesday. Add a season of rain, floodlit training and a bag that lives in a car boot, and you have conditions that turn a printed paper card to pulp well before Christmas.

Our hockey club cards are 760-micron solid PVC — bank card thickness and rigidity — with the design sealed beneath the surface rather than sitting on top of it. Damp does nothing to them, and a stick or a shin pad buckle in the same bag will not scratch through to the print.

Because clubs typically reissue at the start of each season, the practical test is whether last season’s card is still readable when renewals come round in August. With these, it is.

Options That Suit Hockey Clubs

Colour coding by squad is almost universal among the hockey clubs we print for. With men’s, ladies’, mixed, masters and several junior age groups all training on the same evenings, card colour saves the person organising pitches from reading anything at all.

A signature strip labelled for umpiring or coaching accreditation is a neat solution to the problem that those qualifications expire on their own schedule, not the club’s. The strip takes an ordinary pen, so a club officer can write in a renewal date whenever it comes through. A typical strip is 75mm x 8mm, and wording can be printed above or below it, though not onto the strip itself.

For the clubhouse, a barcode ties the card to your bar till so member pricing is handled automatically — Code39 is the most widely supported format, with Code128 and EAN5 also available. And a 5mm punched hole 6mm in from the edge lets matchday officials, umpires and first aid staff wear their card on a lanyard where players can actually see it.

Hockey Club Membership Card Examples

The hockey club cards below are dominated by squad identification, because with five or six squads training on the same evenings that is the field doing the work.

Note how the better examples treat umpires differently — a club that can field its own umpires needs to know who they are without asking. Send us your club colours and we will build the same distinction in.

Get your Quotation Now!

For a hockey club the quote follows the squad count. Six squads is six colour variants of one design, which costs nothing extra in printing but needs setting up as one job rather than six.

Send numbers by squad, and say whether umpires and coaches get a distinguishable card. Mention the bar too, if you want a barcode for member pricing.

Quotes emailed within 10 minutes, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Design Service

Club colours and a badge?

Enough to work with. Our Design Service
builds the card for just £29 +vat

We will lay out one card that works as colour variants across every squad, make sure the squad name is the first thing readable, and fit training nights, pitch and clubhouse details onto the reverse without shrinking them into illegibility.

You approve it before anything prints.

Artwork Fixing Service

Hockey club badges are usually in decent shape — playing kit means a supplier has needed proper artwork at some point.

The recurring issue is instead the squad colour scheme. Clubs often pick six colours that look distinct on screen and turn out to include two blues that are hard to separate in a clubhouse. We will flag that, and fix artwork issues for just £10 +vat.

Free Photorealistic Email Proof

To give you complete confidence before we go to print, we’ll email you a free, high-quality, computer-generated photorealistic proof of your full colour plastic Hockey Club membership cards.

This realistic mock-up shows how your finished Hockey Club membership cards will look, so you can check and approve the layout, text and overall design before production begins.

Fast Production Time

Hockey runs September to April, so cards need issuing at the start of the season — and the season starts the same weekend for everyone, which makes August our busy month for hockey.

Production is 7 working days from proof approval, with 4 working day express available.

Order in July and it is comfortable. Order in the last week of August and you are relying on express.

Free Delivery

FREE DELIVERY within Great Britain, whatever the quantity.

Hockey clubs usually play on a school or council astro with no club address, so cards go to the membership secretary at home. Plain, unbranded packaging, no paperwork inside.

If the junior section is run separately — which it usually is — tell us and we will box each squad separately so they can be handed straight to the right captain.

Made in England

Squad colour coding only works while the colours are reliably the same.

A club has cards in circulation from several seasons at once, and the person organising pitches on a Tuesday night is reading colour, not text. If this year’s ladies’ card comes back a different blue from last year’s, the system quietly stops working.

Same press, same stock, every run — and we keep your artwork for reorders.

100% Recyclable

With six squads reissued annually, a hockey club puts through a real number of cards over time, and junior cards change squad every year or two.

Ours are solid PVC and recycle through standard household and commercial facilities, unlike laminated cards, which cannot be separated into their layers.

Biodegradable cards print identically if the club prefers.

Optional Extras

Two extras suit hockey well.

A signature strip labelled for umpiring or coaching accreditation lets a club officer pen in a renewal date whenever it comes through — those qualifications expire on their own timetable, not the club’s. And a punched hole lets umpires, officials and first aid staff wear their card pitchside where players can see it.

Barcodes cover the clubhouse bar.

optional extras heading

Our vast range of optional extras combined with our competitive prices and fast, friendly service makes us a market leader which keeps our customers returning time after time as well as recommending us.

The majority of cards that we print have a signature strip and also a unique number which is usually sequential however you can supply an Excel document and we can print the details from the document onto the cards so each one has unique details. For example, their name, membership number, expiry date, level of membership etc.

Membership Card Specifications

760-micron solid PVC, Full Colour (CMYK) on both sides at no extra cost, design sealed beneath the surface so a stick or a shin pad buckle in the same bag cannot damage it.

High gloss makes squad colours separate most clearly, which is the priority here.

Premium matt costs the same.

Bureau Personalisation Service

Hockey clubs pick up players through the season — students home for Christmas, someone moving into the area, a junior moving up a squad mid-year.

Our Bureau Personalisation Service means you are not ordering eight cards in January. We hold your printed stock and personalise on demand: email the names, and cards are printed and posted within 3 working days.

It also makes moving a junior between squads a card reissue rather than a problem.

A Plastic Card to Approve

For hockey, get one card per squad printed and lay them out together.

Six colours is where colour coding starts to strain, and the honest test is whether a volunteer can separate them at a glance under clubhouse lighting — not whether they look different in a design file. Two similar blues is the classic failure, and it is easy to fix before printing.

We will print a set and post them to you.

Artwork Specifications & Guides

Two guide points for a hockey card.

Print the season as 2026/27. Hockey runs September to April, so a single calendar year invites mid-season questions about validity.

Pick colours that separate. Six squads needs six genuinely distinct colours. If two are close, change one now rather than living with it for a season.

How to Order your Membership Cards

The membership secretary in July or August, usually alongside collecting subs.

Send the badge and colours, numbers by squad, and say whether umpires get a separate card. Approve the emailed proof and the cards arrive for the first match. We keep the artwork, so next August is one email with a new season and updated numbers.

Hockey Club Membership Card FAQs

Can hockey club cards confirm governing body registration and playing eligibility?
Yes. The registration number and the season can both be printed on the front, which is what league secretaries and match officials look for. The card records registration rather than replacing it.

Can cards be issued by squad?
Yes, and most clubs colour-code them. Men's, ladies', mixed, masters and junior squads can each have their own card colour at no extra cost, since both sides print in full colour as standard.

Can the card show pitch-booking privileges?
Yes. Where members can book astro slots outside club sessions, printing the entitlement on the card saves both the member and whoever keeps the booking diary a conversation every time.

What's the minimum order?
25 cards, so a club can order for a single squad or age group rather than committing to the whole membership in one go.

Can umpires and coaches have a distinguishable card?
Yes. Many clubs give accredited umpires a different card colour or design, and a signature strip lets you pen in an accreditation renewal date whenever it comes through, rather than reprinting.

Should the season be printed as 2026 or 2026/27?
2026/27. Hockey runs September to April, so a single calendar year on the card leads to members asking mid-season whether it is still valid.

Can the card be worn on a lanyard on matchday?
Yes. We punch a 5mm hole 6mm in from the edge or a 15mm x 3mm slot, which is what clubs ask for so umpires, officials and first aid staff are identifiable pitchside.

Will the cards survive a wet kit bag all winter?
Yes. They are 760-micron solid PVC with the print sealed beneath the surface, so a bag that never fully dries between matches will not soften the card or lift the design.
