As well as normal PVC Plastic Cards we also offer Biodegradable Plastic Cards.
They are slightly thicker than a standard plastic card at 800 microns thick and measure 86 x 54mm.
Biodegradable cards are typically chosen by clubs, gyms, and retailers who want to reduce single-use plastic waste without changing their existing card format — the cards print, encode, and feel the same as standard PVC, so no changes are needed to card readers or lanyard clips already in use. They suit membership and loyalty schemes where cards are renewed annually and old cards are usually discarded rather than reused.

Why Choose Biodegradable Plastic Cards?
Biodegradable plastic cards look and feel identical to a standard PVC card — same credit card size (86 × 54mm), same full-colour print quality, same gloss or matt finish options. The difference is what happens at the end of their life. Our biodegradable cards contain an additive designed to help the plastic break down faster than standard PVC when it ends up in a biologically active environment, such as some landfill conditions. How quickly that happens depends on the conditions, including moisture, temperature and microbial activity, so we don't quote a fixed timescale.
Crucially, they won't start degrading while you're using them. In normal conditions — wallets, pockets, card readers — they perform exactly like a standard card.

What's the difference between biodegradable and recycled cards?
Our biodegradable cards use an additive intended to speed up breakdown in the right conditions. We offer two recycled cards: our recycled PVC plastic cards are made from 98% recycled PVC and are the same 760 micron thickness as a standard card, and our EcoTough cards are PVC-free and made with 20% recycled content. Neither will degrade, but both can be recycled at the end of their life where facilities accept this type of plastic. All three are alternatives to standard virgin PVC; the right choice depends on whether end-of-life breakdown or recycled content matters more to your brand or procurement criteria.
