Most of the angling cards we print are repeat orders. A club settles on a design once, and then comes back each season with an updated year and a new list of members — which is why it is worth getting the layout right at the start rather than reworking it every spring.
We print for syndicates of a dozen rods and for clubs with several hundred members on half a dozen waters, and the job is the same either way: solid PVC, full colour on both sides, free delivery within Great Britain, and a minimum of 25 cards.

What to Put on an Angling Club Membership Card
Most angling club cards carry the club name and crest on the front, together with the member’s name, a membership number and the category they have paid for — full season, day ticket, junior, concessionary or syndicate. It is worth setting the expiry year in noticeably larger type than everything else around it. A bailiff checking a card in failing light on a wet bank needs to read that year at arm’s length, not hold it up to a head torch.
The reverse is where most clubs put the detail that actually gets enforced. Typically that means a condensed version of the rules a bailiff is most likely to be challenging on — barbless hooks, keepnet and unhooking mat requirements, close season dates, whether night fishing is permitted and under what permit — alongside a list of the waters the card covers and a bailiff or secretary contact number. A signature strip is common too, so a card found on the bank can be matched back to its holder.
One thing worth stating plainly on the card: a club membership card does not replace an Environment Agency rod licence. Plenty of clubs print a single line to that effect, purely so nobody arrives on the bank believing the two are the same thing. And if your club controls several waters under one membership, naming them on the reverse settles a great many waterside arguments before they start.
Why Angling Clubs Print on Plastic Rather Than Paper
Angling is unusually hard on anything kept in a pocket. A card spends the season being handled with wet or muddy hands, pulled out in the rain, pushed back into a tackle box or the chest pocket of a pair of waders, and occasionally dropped in the margins. Paper permits go soft and illegible within a few weeks of that. Laminating pouches are worse than they look — the seal lifts at one corner, water wicks in behind the film, and the print inside is finished.

Useful Extras for Angling Club Cards
Sequential numbering is the single most useful addition for an angling club. Numbering cards in the order they are issued keeps the card number aligned with the club’s membership register, so a bailiff can ring a number through and get a name back, and a lost card can be voided without reprinting the batch.
Barcodes and QR codes are increasingly common on club waters. A barcode lets a gated fishery or a club with a sign-in system scan members in and out. A QR code on the reverse can point at your rules page or a fishery map, which keeps the printed rules short and lets you update the detail without reprinting anything.

and last year’s card. That is plenty. We will lay out both sides, fit the

The artwork problem we see most often from angling clubs is the crest. Club
badges tend to have been drawn once, decades ago, and what survives is a
low-resolution copy lifted from a letterhead, a website or a club Facebook page.

The majority of cards that we print have a signature strip and also a unique number which is usually sequential however you can supply an Excel document and we can print the details from the document onto the cards so each one has unique details. On the finish, angling is one of the clearer cases for
premium matt over high gloss. A matt card
throws no glare when it is held up to a head torch, and it does not hold the
fingerprints that wet or muddy hands leave on a gloss surface.
Gloss still looks richer if your card carries a photograph of the water. Both
cost the same, so it is purely a judgement call.

The first is whether the expiry year is genuinely readable at arm’s length in
poor light, which is how a bailiff will actually read it. The second is whether
your club colours came out as you expected, since screen greens and printed greens
are rarely the same.

Artwork Specifications & Guides
If you are laying the card out yourself, two things from our guide matter most for
an angling club.
Resolution: your crest needs to be 300dpi at the size it will
print, or vector artwork. A logo taken from a website is usually 72dpi and will
not hold up.
Safe area: keep the club rules on the reverse at least 4mm from
the edge. Rules get set small to fit, and small text near a trim edge is the
first thing to look wrong.

How to Order your Membership Cards
For most angling clubs this falls to the membership secretary, in the same few
weeks each year, on top of everything else they are doing.
So it is deliberately short: send us your artwork or your crest, tell us the
quantity and any numbering you want, approve the photorealistic proof we email
you, and the cards arrive. If you ordered with us before, we still have your
