Badminton clubs usually order against the start of the club-night season, and the card has to do one specific job well: get a court released without a conversation at the leisure centre desk.

What to Include on a Badminton Club Membership Card
Club name, member name, membership number and playing category — full, off-peak, junior, student or social — cover the front of most badminton cards, along with the date the season runs to. If your card is what releases a court, the membership number is the field doing the real work, so set it large enough to be read out over the phone or typed into a kiosk without anybody squinting.
The reverse is more useful than clubs often realise. Badminton clubs frequently run across two or three different halls on different nights, and printing the nights, times and venues saves the committee answering the same question every September. A booking line or website address, and a line on the guest policy, tend to go on there too.
Clubs running ladder leagues or graded sessions usually want a member’s division or playing level visible. That can be a printed label, a coloured band across the card, or a whole card colour per level — whichever makes it easiest for whoever is organising the courts on the night.
Why a Plastic Card Works Better at a Sports Hall Desk
Think about how often a badminton card is actually handled. Twice a week through a season is well over eighty trips out of a wallet, across a leisure centre desk, and back again. A printed paper card handed over that many times is a soft, furred rectangle by February, and the membership number is usually the first thing to go.
Our badminton club cards are 760-micron solid PVC, exactly the thickness and rigidity of a bank card. They slide into a wallet or the pocket of a racket bag without folding, and because the design is sealed beneath the surface rather than printed on top, rubbing against a grip or a tube of shuttles does not wear it away.
High gloss is included in your price; premium matt is an additional £20 +vat on the order. Matt tends to suit clubs whose cards are handled constantly, simply because it does not show fingerprints.
Barcodes, Colours and Other Badminton Club Options
If your cards need to work with a leisure centre or club booking system, the barcode format is worth settling before we print. Code39 — also called 3 of 9 — is the most widely supported, and we also print Code128 and EAN5. Ask your venue or booking software provider which one their scanner expects. It is a five-minute question that prevents a reprint.
A QR code is the more flexible option where your session times change. It needs to be square and at least 15mm to scan reliably, and pointing it at a page on your own website means you can update the timetable whenever you like without touching the cards.
For clubs that would rather keep it simple, a signature strip — typically 75mm x 8mm — lets a member sign the card and lets you pen in the current season, and colour coding by playing level gives organisers the information they need at a glance without a scanner anywhere in sight.

A barcode crowded against a card edge, or set too small, reads inconsistently at a
till — and inconsistently is worse than not at all, because nobody trusts it.

Recyclable Material
Club nights turn over players steadily, so cards get reissued and old ones
discarded most seasons.
Ours are solid PVC and can be
recycled where facilities
accept PVC. A laminated paper card cannot — the film is bonded to
the card and will not separate.
If the club would rather not use PVC at all, our
biodegradable cards print and scan
exactly the same way.

A Plastic Card to Approve
If your cards carry a barcode, ask for a printed one and take it to the venue
before you commit.
An emailed proof cannot tell you whether the leisure centre’s scanner
actually reads it. A real card can, in thirty seconds, at the desk where it will be
used — and that is the single most valuable test you can run on a badminton
card.

Artwork Specifications & Guides
The two guide points that matter most for a badminton card:
Barcode quiet zones. A barcode needs clear space either side. Do
not run it to the edge of the card or wrap a border tight around it.
Reverse text size. Club nights, halls and guest rules all want to
fit, and the temptation is to shrink them. Anything under about 6pt stops being
read, which defeats the point of printing it.

Usually the club secretary, in August, between booking the halls and chasing subs.
Send the club name or logo, the quantity, and the barcode format if you need one.
Approve the emailed proof. The cards arrive. If you have ordered before, we still
have the artwork, so next season is one email with a new date and a quantity.

Can badminton cards work with our court booking system?
Yes. We print Code39 (3 of 9), Code128 and EAN5 barcodes, and can also add magnetic strips. Ask your venue or booking software provider which format their scanner expects and we will match it.
Can we colour-code cards by playing level?
Yes, and at no extra cost — both sides are printed in full colour as standard. Clubs use a different card colour per level, or a coloured band, so whoever is organising courts can sort players at a glance.
Can you print our club night schedule on the card?
Yes. The reverse is full colour at no extra cost, which is plenty of room for nights, times and venues. If your times change often, a QR code pointing at your own timetable page is the more flexible answer.
What size does a QR code need to be on a badminton club card?
It has to be square, and we recommend a minimum of 15mm so it scans reliably from a phone. It can hold a website address, an email address or a phone number, and it can be different on every card.
Can each member's name be printed on their own card?
Yes. Supply an Excel file containing only the details to be printed and every card is individually printed with its own name, membership number and expiry date within a single production run.
Will the cards stand up to being handed over twice a week all season?
Yes. They are 760-micron solid PVC with the print sealed beneath the surface, so unlike a printed paper card they do not soften, fur at the edges or lose the membership number after a few months of use.
Can we add a signature strip?
Yes. A typical strip is 75mm x 8mm and takes an ordinary pen. We cannot print onto the strip itself, but wording such as "Signature" or "Valid until" can be printed directly above or below it.
What's the minimum order for badminton club cards?
25 cards, so a small club night with a couple of dozen regulars can order exactly what it needs rather than paying for a box of hundreds.
