Motorsport cards do two quite different jobs depending on the club. For a competition club the card is a credential checked at a circuit gate. For an owners’ or classic club it is a keepsake with the member’s own car on it. Both are worth doing properly.

What a Motorsport or Car Club Membership Card Carries
Competitive clubs print the things a circuit or event organiser checks: the member’s name, membership number, competition licence status and, where it applies, marshalling grade. Those are the fields that decide whether someone gets onto a post or into a paddock, so they are worth setting clearly rather than treating as small print.
Single-marque, owners’ and classic car clubs usually want something different. Here the card tends to carry the member’s own car — marque, model, year, sometimes the registration — which is both the thing members most want on it and the thing that makes a club card feel like it belongs to a person rather than a database. Printing it is straightforward: supply the details in an Excel file and each card comes out with its own.
The reverse commonly holds the event calendar, entry and scrutineering contacts, and a summary of club regulations. For clubs running their own meetings, the duty officer or clerk of the course number is worth the space.
Worn All Weekend, Handled With Oily Hands
A motorsport club card does not live in a wallet. It hangs from a lanyard for an entire weekend, in whatever the weather does at a circuit in March, and it gets handled by people who have just been under a car. That is a very different duty cycle from a card that comes out twice a week at a leisure centre desk.
Solid 760-micron PVC handles it. The design is sealed beneath the card’s own surface, so oil and grime wipe off rather than soaking in, and there is no laminate film to lift when a card spends two days in the rain. A card that has done a full season of events still reads.
For anything worn openly all weekend, matt is usually the better finish. It does not throw glare when a marshal is checking passes in low sun, and it hides the fingerprints that are unavoidable in a paddock.
Passes, Lanyards and Ways to Tell People Apart
Hole and slot punching is the defining option for this sector. A 5mm hole punched 6mm in from the edge, or a 15mm x 3mm slot centred on an edge, is what turns a membership card into something that stays visible throughout an event rather than living in a pocket. It is the single most requested extra we fit for motorsport and car clubs.
Colour coding then does the rest. Competitor, marshal, official, guest and trade can each have their own card colour at no extra cost, since both sides print in full colour as standard — and at a glance across a paddock that is a more effective access system than any amount of printed text.
For founder members, life members and concours award winners, a metallic base card makes a genuinely distinctive card: gold or silver across the whole surface with your design printed over it in full colour. Remember that white will not show, as there is no white base underneath. Metallic foiling is the alternative where you want just the club badge to stand out, though it needs simple line art, since foil lays down as flat solid colour and will not reproduce gradients or photographs.

Competition clubs reissue annually against licence renewal, and event passes are by
definition single-use, so the volume is higher than the membership numbers suggest.
Ours are solid PVC and can be recycled

The majority of cards that we print have a signature strip and also a unique number which is usually sequential however you can supply an Excel document and we can print the details from the document onto the cards so each one has unique details. For example, their name, membership number, expiry date, level of membership etc.

Keep the punch clear. If cards are worn, nothing important should sit
where the 5mm hole goes, 6mm in from the edge.
Role on both sides. A card on a lanyard spends half its life

the first event for show clubs.
Send the badge, the role list, and an Excel file of members and vehicles if the
cards carry them. Say whether they are punched. Approve the proof and the cards
arrive. We keep the artwork for next season.
