Basic Skills and Techniques

Getting Comfortable in the Water:
Start by walking in shallow water to get used to the feeling. Practice holding the pool edge and dipping your face in the water while exhaling through your nose.

Floating:
Front Float.
Lie flat on your stomach, spread your arms and legs, and let your body float. Keep your face in the water and gently kick your legs.

Back Float:
Lie flat on your back, spread your arms and legs, and relax. Keep your face above water to breathe easily.

Breath Control:
Practice holding your breath underwater and exhaling slowly. In swimming, breathing rhythm is crucial, so alternate between inhaling through your mouth and exhaling through your nose.

Learning Basic Strokes

Freestyle (Front Crawl):
Body Position:
Keep your body horizontal and streamlined.

Arm Movement:
Alternate your arms, making wide, circular motions.

Kicking:
Use a flutter kick with straight legs and pointed toes.

Breathing:
Turn your head to the side with each stroke for a quick breath.

Breaststroke:
Body Position.
Maintain a horizontal position.

Arm Movement:
Pull your arms together in a circle in front of your chest.

Kicking:
Lift your head to inhale and submerge your face to exhale.

Backstroke

Body Position:
Lie flat on your back with your body horizontal.

Arm Movement:
Glide your arms alternately in a circular motion behind you.

Kicking:
Use a flutter kick with straight legs, similar to freestyle.

Breathing:
Always keep your face above water to breathe comfortably.

Advanced Techniques

Butterfly Stroke:
Body Position.
Keep your body flat and horizontal, undulating like a dolphin.

Arm Movement:
Move both arms simultaneously in a broad, circular motion.

Kicking:
Use a dolphin kick by keeping your legs together and moving in a wave-like motion.

Breathing:
Lift your head forward to breathe after every second arm pull.

Flip Turns:
Used for converting your momentum smoothly during laps.
Approach the Wall:
Swim towards the wall.

Flip:
Tuck your head and do a somersault underwater.

Push Off:
Use your feet to push off the wall and streamline your body to resume swimming.

Safety Tips

Never Swim Alone:
Always have someone nearby, preferably a lifeguard or swim buddy.

Warm-Up:
Stretch your muscles before getting into the water.

Stay Hydrated:
Drink water regularly, even though you’re in the pool.

Know Your Limits:
Don’t push yourself too hard. Rest when needed.

Practice Regularly:
Consistency is key. Swimming once or twice a week will help you improve gradually. Join a swimming club or take lessons to refine your skills. There you have it! Now you're ready to hit the pool and start swimming like a pro. Happy swimming!
